CCSVI

MS is a progressive inflammation disease affecting the central nervous system in which the myelin sheaths covering the axons of the brain are damaged and the transmission of nerve signals is blocked, which leads to eventual paralysis and vision loss. Until recently MS was widely considered an autoimmune system disease with possible viral causes, which has hereditary predisposition factors. However, the core cause of the disease has remained undetermined, which had lead to serious difficulties in preventing, treating, and managing the disease.
During 2008 – 2009, the renowned Italian Doctor Paolo Zamboni published a theory purporting that MS is caused by chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI).
Test carried out in recent years make us assume that (one-side or both-side) jugular vein stenosis or azygos vein stenosis can impair blood outflow from the central nervous system and consequently intensify neurological symptoms in patients suffering from multiple sclerosis. Data resulting from the tests carried out indicate a significant correlation between the occurrence of jugular venous system, vertebral venous system, azygos vein pathology and multiple sclerosis.
The link between CCSVI and MS has not to date been scientifically confirmed, mostly due to a lack of scientific research based on clinical programs. Nevertheless, according to the preliminary data confirmed by the patients who underwent the procedure, 50% of respondents felt a marked improvement in health, which entails stopping the progress of the disease. Furthermore, the group of 40% of respondents stated that after the procedure their health condition was balanced. In 10% of patients the treatment did not bring the desired results. Until now, there has been more than five thousand procedures performed in the world (including approximately 1,300 procedures in NZOZ EuroMedic Specialists Clinics in Katowice).
